Executive Committee Meeting Held on Tuesday 6th November 2007

ACTION TO ALL CLUBS:

Can all Clubs send me an email confirming their preferred email address or addresses where they want information sending to.
The speed of transfer of information via email is enormously beneficial to our Division and Clubs therein.
Plus with the recent postal strikes this has slowed the process of information transfer and raised the issue of the adequacy of the postal system in the light of a better system.
Obviously some Clubs will say they do not have access to a computer, or internet access, or a broadband facility or a printer or Microsoft Office on their Computer.

My answer here is that in this day and age everyone has a child or grandchild, friend or Member of a Club who does have access and can print off or relay information to the Club where necessary.

Secondly all information that I send will be backed up onto the Divisional website for your reference.
Don’t worry all information will continue to be sent by post until I am 100% certain that everyone has email and website access.
Finally will all Club Secretary’s ensure information is passed onto CLUB COACHES.

Item 3 Actions from Previous Minutes
Minutes circulated and accepted as a true record. All in Favour.

J.Hart Regarding Junior Novice Championships – should be 0 – 10 bouts not from 2 bouts. Proposed J.Hart to raise at North West Counties seconded Y.Hussain.
All agreed
ACTION: K.Williams to raise the matter at the next North West Counties meeting which has been postponed to 20th November.

ACTION: K.Williams to obtain a detailed copy of current ABA Insurance Policy and write to the ABA asking for Insurance Certificates be sent to all Clubs.

EP then proposed we obtain a copy of the NABC policy and compare the two policies.
All in favour.
ACTION: T.Norton to obtain copy and forward to KW.
COMPLETED
T.Norton explains the cost of the Insurance Company used by the National Association of Boys Clubs. (Willis 0845 6712200 www.willis.com).
KW produced papers from the abae website outlining the abae Insurance Policy.
A general discussion ensued.

CONTINUING ACTION: KW to liaise with the legal advisor for the Division and ask for clarity regarding the subject of Insurance from a qualified expert.

ACTION: K.Williams to write to the Head Coach of Stalybridge ABC (Carl Stanley) and notify him of this suspension, ensure that he in turn notifies Alan Cesay and returns the Coaching Card of Alan Cesay to the Division.

Ongoing ACTION: KW to write to Carl Stanley and reiterate that Alan Cesay cannot be involved with the Club in any way whatsoever until the outcome of the Police Enquiry. Should he be found to be associated with the Club in the meantime then Carl Stanley and the Club will have to face a stern Disciplinary Hearing
K.Williams obtained the answers to the following questions verbally.
E.Peate asked the following questions. “Once the forms have been received by the ABA, for an individual to sit on a Commission who makes the decision on who is successful?”
Answer: the Board of Directors.
“Secondly who selects the Panel who makes those particular decisions?”
Answer: The Council at the ABA AGM.

Dr Wren refuted these answers. EP seconded.

Ongoing ACTION: K.Williams to obtain answers in writing from ABAE office.

Ongoing ACTION: John Hart assisted by Training Committee to review dates, venues and available Coaches for squad sessions and report back to the Exec.

Ongoing Action: K.Williams to extend an invitation to Juan Thomas to attend a future Divisional meeting.

Juan will attend the next meeting. Please note that this will be Tuesday 8th January 08 as the December meeting has been cancelled.

Ongoing ACTION: KW to write to Brian Roche asking him to attend a Disciplinary Hearing on Tuesday 6th November at 7:00pm at Preston County Hall, Committee Room B, Second Floor.

Letter received from Yakub Patel from Marsh Community Centre, Lancaster requesting Affiliation to the Division.
Contact details passed to B.Simpson and Y.Hussain.

Ongoing ACTION: K.Williams to contact K.Bradbury Macclesfield ABC. Work at Club now partly completed.

E.Peate raised the issue of the inappropriate behaviour of four Boxers whilst abroad on a recent trip in Germany.

Ongoing ACTION: SW, HH, and PA to arrange Disciplinary Hearing. Due to Henry Herbert’s absence at the meeting a decision is still pending.

Item 4 Matters arising from minutes
Matters discussed above.

Item 5 Disciplinary Committee
The Disciplinary Committee met prior to this Executive Meeting to discuss an incident which took place at the recent Pool of Life Show.
Brian Roche apologised to the Committee for his behaviour and has subsequently apologised to Paul Angus who was the OIC at the show. The Disciplinary Committee took this apology in good faith and are aware that Brian has been a good servant to Amateur Boxing in the past. It was stated that they will monitor Brian’s behaviour for the next 12 months. All agreed.

Item 6 Correspondence
None to report.

Item 7 Honorary Treasurers Report
Copies circulated. Explanation given. Treasurer asks for help on door at Championships. Two volunteered.

Discussion regarding paying for W.Nedley to have broadband in order to undertake his CRB Officer duties. Agreed that Hon. Tres. Pays phone bills for W.Nedley.
Proposed EP letter to ABA asking why we have to pay for CRB Officers. Also to be brought to the next NWC meeting.
ACTION: K.Williams to write to the ABA and raise the issue on 20th November at NWC meeting

Item 8 Boxing Development
KW spoke about the success of the Event at the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday 14th October and other programmes that he is currently undertaking.

Item 9 CRB
Three additional Officers were elected: T.Norton; J.Hart and A.Finch.

Item 10 ABAE Business
Nothing to report.

Item 11 Trianing and Selection Committee

Meeting took place. NWC Nantwich show Tuesday 13th November. Squads are being arranged. Divisional matches will be organized every two months. An Irish and Cyprus Team will be coming over. Invitations have been sent to Teams from Kent, Surrey, Scotland and Canada.
On 10th January 08 there will be a EL Vs Midlands match at the Cliffs hotel in Blackpool.
Can all Clubs send their lists to Yak Hussain who will be matchmaking. Only the lads who attend squads will be nominated for representative matches. NWC squads will be shared around the Division at different venues.

Senior squad session arranged for Sunday 25th November at 10:30am at Mottram and Hattersley gym, HattersleyRoad East, Hattersley, Hyde, SK14 3EQ.

Monday 3rd December 07. East Lancs Vs West Lancs in Southport. Any Boxer or Club who would like to compete let John Hart know as soon as possible 07889 255371.

Item 12 Adjudication
JH has introduced a system to monitor Judges and will introduce a rota system for officials on Representative matches. The Committee extends our thanks to M.Dillon, V.Whiteside, S.Rafferty and J.Elliott for their help at recent Championships.

Any person who would like to become a Referee should make John Hart aware of this as the Division is in drastic need of Referees.

The next Judges and Timekeepers course will take place on Sunday 9th December 07 at the William Beaumont Community Sports College, Long Lane, Warrington, WA5 2PX.

Item 13 OIC Reports
Irlam show, 2nd October 07 at the Irlam Social Club. OIC Joe Elliott stated that this venue was inadequate for Amateur Boxing. Proposed E.Peate that no further shows take place at this venue, All Agreed
Thanks to P.Richardson for organizing Officials at the last minute.
Questions raised by J.Hart as to why there are 3 shows on one night. Reasons given. Accepted.

Item 14 Affiliations

Still not affiliated - ACE ABC and St Michaels.

St Michaels ABC have committed serious misconduct. Reference was made to one Club Official who is connected with unlicensed Boxing.
ACTION KW to write letter to go to the local press regarding the man concerned.

Item 15 A.O.B.
Request by P.Angus that a card and a gift be sent to J.Taylor from the Division for his recent ill health. All agreed.

JH stated that Clubs who pull Boxers out of Championships will be fined and disciplined, rules have to be observed.

T.Norton stated that he has a template for all Clubs being inspected.
Resolved – this will be used in future.
